I tried to think of a snappier title, but I had a lot of cocktails last night, so...

Yes! The Anti-Nano sign-up beings here! If you love the idea of Nanowrimo but know 50k is an impractical target for you, never fear! Join the cult, and dedicate November to writing as much (or as little) as you want in the company of like-minded writers.

Just leave a comment here stating your goal and what you'll be working on. I'll be doing bi-weekly check-ins throughout November (Mondays and Fridays), and once a week there'll be excerpt postings here (Wednesdays). You can sign-up any time throughout October.

I'll get the ball rolling: I'm going to be working on Halflife, the second Shoregrave novel, and I'm aiming for 1k a day.

Don't be shy - come join me, and feel free to spread the word! The more, the merrier, right?

AntiNaNo

Even I can do this. I have last year's idea still on my laptop. The laptop is languishing on a shelf at ComputerMedic. I can reasonably promise to call COmpMedic and ask if it's fixable.
Maybe even write out another 1000 words of backstory.

I'm going to use the anti-nano time to write my [livejournal.com profile] inception_bang story - so that's 15k words by early December.

The story's going to be a modern myth AU, but hopefully more like a heist with a lot of questioning of reality. But mostly, I get to indulge my love of anthropomorpic stuff and bitchy gods.

What is inception bang? I looked at the link, but was a bit confused.

Basically, it's a big bang writing thing for Inception fandom. Write a 15k+ word fic, and then someone creates a mix/some art for it. Posting time comes along and everyone shares the goodies. It's a collaborative effort. I've been part of a few big bangs for the last couple of years doing art and mixing and it's a lot of fun.

Sounds cool. I haven't managed to see Inception yet. It looks really good.

I offer the name NaNo-No.

I in. Most likely, it will either be my WIP or something else (How ambiguous is that? Yay :) I'm off to a great start).

I don't know. I think you could be more vague. You might not be writing at all. *wiggles fingers* It's a mystery.

You could be writing haikus in egg yolk!

LOL, well, as the hubs eats egg whites for breakfast and I give the yolks to the dogs, I think they will be very disappointed if I choose that route.

Might be a good idea, though. Moccasippi is loosing her girlish figure.

I'm in!

I'll be writing a standalone comedy about a woman who finds herself landlord to God and the Devil whilst Heaven and Hell are being renovated.

I'm aiming for 1k a day.

I'm in. I want to finish Under the Hill no matter how many words that takes (but if the estimate is correct it'll be about 40K.)

Like [livejournal.com profile] dwg, I'll also be working on my [livejournal.com profile] inception_bang. Hopefully I'll be settled in enough at school to actually pull it off. *meep*

I will be trying to finish my WIP Tea Times Three. I'm at 300 pages handwritten so far. I don't know how much it will take to finish it because I am a total pantser! Arg!

If I finish early I will start either my YA horror, My Super Secret Project, or my middle grade horror which began as short story and may get book treatment :)

And YAY for more Shoregrave!!! Happy now!

If I could get 10,000 new words on this novel that I've sort of abandoned for a while, that would be faaabulous.

I'll be working on Path of Thorns, my failed nano (though I did get to about 20K) from last year. I'm aiming to complete another 10-15K on it in November. I have a 9 day vacation during that time, so...I think it's doable. But I've probably just jinxed myself.

I think I'm going to be lazy and just aim for <a href="http://750words.com</a>750 words</a> each day on my Zodiac rewrite. When I get into a groove, I end up writing 5-6k, but it's actually forcing myself to start that's hard >.>

Cool! I know what you mean - sometimes it's better for me to set myself a lower wordcount and then get into the swing and smash it, then set a higher one and struggle to get there every day.

Much as I might be tempted by cup-cakes, I shall be participating in PicoWriMo, and I'm not convinced the world (let alone Cambridge, never mind CWIL) needs to create more than one not-NaNo event.

Sweet! I have just managed to procure a lap top for the month of November. My lap top is dead and I can't really afford to buy a new one. Not having a lap top has been a good excuse for me not to write. Now, I will not have that excuse. I'll see what happens.
