Feb. 22nd, 2011 02:01 am- 07:59:51: @TezMillerOz So how do you feel about indie musicians and film makers?
- 08:17:31: @TezMillerOz Realistic! I loved poetry as a teen, wrote it as well. The measure of realism for me isn't if the character shares my tastes...
- 08:18:21: @TezMillerOz ...but how consistent they are in the set-up the author has chosen
- 08:20:58: Is it bed time now?
- 09:00:31: @smythwood There was an HP Lovecraft board game. It got confusing. I don't know anything anymore!
- 10:24:22: Ah, I have vented my spleen. I feel better now
- 10:24:42: A large intake of sugar (the natural, fruity kind!) may also have helped
- 10:56:48: @LizUK What sort of advice are you looking for?
- 11:03:23: @LizUK 1st step - always get someone else to read it for their thoughts! Usually several someone elses so I can compare their notes
- 11:03:47: @LizUK I usually kind of know what needs work, but it's useful to have outside input. Then it's just chapter by chapter, piece by piece
- 11:10:22: @LizUK Hell yes. I usually can't stand to even look at the damn book for a good two weeks after finishing!
- 11:11:08: @LizUK If I try to revise too soon, I just see what I think I've written, not what's actually there and I miss loads of basic mistakes
- 11:12:48: @LizUK Check out Kit Whitfield - she has some excellent stuff about editing and revising here http://www.kitwhitfield.com/lexicon.html
- 11:16:24: Oh hey, Ungrateful Dead is now live for sale on the Kindle! http://tinyurl.com/64vja4q
- 11:16:40: Wasn't planning to upload it til next week, but a couple of people asked so it is done :)
- 11:22:27: @LizUK Enjoy! Kit Whitfield is one of my heroes - she's amazing
- 11:31:02: Just want to note that you can still get Ungrateful Dead for free by emailing me!
- 12:18:32: @Skarrah Oooh, enjoy! :)
- 12:19:42: Aww. My boss bought me biscuits from Spain!
- 12:29:23: @TezMillerOz Dona Jimena Gran Surtido. That means "Great Assortment donates Jimena" in English, apparently
- 12:56:07: @smythwood Sorry. But I will enjoy a Spanish biscuit on your behalf later
- 16:18:04: @Scarimonious That film gave me a big sad. Northern Lights is one of my favourite books ever and the film just kicked it in the nuts
- 16:33:14: @Scarimonious It had massive potential! Ian McKellen as a polar bear, FFS! And then they slapped on that nasty happy ending. Sigh.
- 16:52:31: I start the day with such good intentions, but somehow, chocolate always sneaks up on me #nomewillneverbethin
- 17:27:21: Yay! Actually have an actual artist working on a cover for me for Night and Chaos. Sounds like it's going to be awesome!
- 17:27:32: (Better than my crappy home-made efforts, anyway)
- 18:53:41: Tiredness has hit me like a great big ... thing
- 19:33:51: Being home has served to increase my tiredness threefold (at least threefold!). If only I didn't have so much to do
- 19:40:33: @shewolfmanc I ask myself the same thing every day and I can only conclude all writers are masochists at heart
- 20:13:11: @AnneLyle Oooh, any hints you can drop?
- 20:13:54: @shewolfmanc Ha, I do that a few times a year! I find chocolate helps put things in perspective
- 20:23:51: @AnneLyle I am so freaking proud of you right now!
- 21:38:59: Slush pile for #serveinheavenreigninhell is up to date. Too tired to do anything else
