Guess what I'm doing?

No! I'm editing an anthology for Static Movement. Look at my shiny cover!

Give me your angels and demons, your nephilim and fallen angels! I want tales of Heaven and Hell, saints and sinners, redemption and revenge. For me, a lot of the fun of these anthologies is seeing how every author interprets the theme differently, so be creative! I'm looking for urban fantasy, romance, and horror. No erotica, please.

I'm looking for submissions between 1,500 and 5,000 words, no flash. If you have something longer than 5k you think will fit, please email me to query.

Usual Static Movement formatting rules apply: single space with indented paragraphs, no space between paragraphs and standard 12 font. Use centered *** for scene breaks, and please put your bio at the end of the story in the manuscript. Please make sure your story is how you want it to appear in print, and pay attention to grammar and punctuation!

Please send your submissions with ‘Serve in Heaven, Reign in Hell’ in the subject line to naomi_jay@hotmail.co.uk

This anthology is opened until filled and is a 'for the love' of anthology. No copies or payment, exposure only, but you can't beat a good bit of exposure, I reckon

I'm really excited, guys. I wanted to go into editing after university, but the right opportunities never came along, so I'd love to do more of this kind of work this year if it goes well.

For the love

Surely the publishers could stretch to one copy per author - they'll be making real money not 'exposure' out of the effort of each writer

Well, that's out of my remit, really, but I personally don't see the harm in writers doing the occasional project just for the love/exposure. Obviously it would be lovely if we could get paid for everything we write, but sometimes it's not an option!

Closing date?

Very interested in this, paid or not.

Is there a closing date for submissions?

I second the question on the closing date~! :) I'm interested, too!

It's open until filled, so no deadline for submissions at this point. When it gets close to the word count needed for print (about 60-70k, I think), I'll let people know!

Open until filled, so no deadline yet - I will let people know as it gets close to being filled though. I hope you submit! :)

Fun! You'll have to share your experiences with dealing with the slush pile menace. :)

Get thee to the Static Movement forums! There some amazing anthologies open there at the moment, and I know you'll have some stories for them :)

I have been thinking about this, because the theme suits the Tale of the Lecherous Lawyer and the Nun with the Gun very well, but it's too long... Please let me know yay or nay, then I can stop breaking my head over it.

Remind me again how long it is? I'd love to have it, so I'm certainly willing to consider it if it's around the 10k mark, but anything longer and it might have to go onto the reserve list until I see how many more submissions I get!

it was 13182 words long at my last count. It probably needs some editing to clean up the language, but I doubt if that will make it fall under the 10k.

Hmm, well, I still want it! Send it to me once you're happy with the editing side of things and I'll read it afresh and decide. I'm pretty sure I will include it because I loved the stuff you posted so much.

It's also worth noting that, because the anthology is non-paying, rights revert to you on publication. So you can always submit it elsewhere once the anthology is released if you want to.
