Dec. 30th, 2007 05:37 pm Happy New Year, y'all! I know I'm a bit early, but who knows when I'll have internet access again?
Actually, I do. It'll be Wednesday, when I go back to work.
Anyway, I hope you all had a marvellous Christmas and got everything you wanted. I did! Both my promised bottles of perfume, plus a digital camera *drools over her camera for it is heavenly* and many, many chocolates. So many I actually took the unprecented step of throwing some away and forcing the rest onto an unsuspecting friend who foolishly came to see me. Mwhahahaha.
So, it's nearly 2008. I don't make New Year resolutions, because I never keep them, and I figure it never stays a new year long enough for me to fulfill them. Instead I'm setting goals, which may or may not take a whole year to fulfill. Prepare for a list:

1. Finish Wild, for God's sake. Shouldn't take long. I have no excuses when I'm thisclose to the end.
2. Finish first draft of Death for the Born (at which point I'll probably decide it's tripe and should never have been written).
3. Write first draft of Apocalypse Angel Novel (hereafter AAN).
4. Write first draft of full-length Painless Novel (hereafter known as Slow Burn).
5. Speculate on that dream I had about a group of shapeshifters that might make a good novel. (I figure this one will be the easiest to achieve, as I'm very good at speculating).

I should probably add "spend less time procrastinating and making lists of things to do and just do them" as a goal, but I don't think it's a habit I can break. I am nearly 25 after all, and my personality is probably fixed in stone by now.

on 2007-12-30 09:03 pm (UTC)Since 25 I've, ooh, let me see... ditched my career; as a corollary, ditched my entire outlook on the meanings of things like "happiness" and "success"; ditched a major lifestyle choice; unditched it again only differently; taken up at least three new hobbies; the list goes on.
I always wish more people had the confidence to make choices for the person they are and just say "because it's the right thing for me". Most folk seem to feel they have to blame their own self-confidence and maturity on some sort of internal fossilisation; as if you hit a certain age and set solid, like plaster of Paris...

on 2007-12-30 09:37 pm (UTC)So, since 25 I have... changed jobs only once and that within the same sector, adjusted my outlook on life and faith somewhat, but not drastically, resurrected a couple of old hobbies and taken up writing, somehow got involved in working with young people, flirted (briefly) with driving a modern car, err...
OK, so I'm much more boring and predictable than
Anyway, Nome, good list of goals. Now you just need to go ahead and achieve them!
Happy New Year
