It's 8.47 am, I have a terrible cold, and I'm at work. Could today be any worse? Well, there's time yet...

On the other hand, I've only got 38 pages of BLOOD HUNT to go through before I wrap up the second draft. Huzzahs! I was pleased to discover I'd included some stuff about werewolf high school gangs that will tie nicely into Urban Wolf book 3, but horrified to discover I know nothing about the treatment of second-degree burns. But that's why beta readers are awesome, thank you, [livejournal.com profile] blythe025 !

I haven't added anything to Night and Chaos over the weekend, but spent some time on Saturday working on a Paranormal Romance novella which I'd like to submit to Evernight Publishing under my Sekrit Identity when it's done*. I'm planning to spend today and tomorrow finishing off BLOOD HUNT, then getting back to work on Night and Chaos later in the week.

So, how's everyone else doing?

I suppose there's no point being coy about it. My Sekrit Identity is [livejournal.com profile] tessa_morelock
(I know! I got it from a vampire name generator).I was going to wait until I'd actually sold some stuff under that name before making a big deal about it, but I have had two short stories accepted by Static Movement under this name, so there we are. This is Part II of The Plan, you see, dear readers, which is basically Writer Some Romance and Sell It Because People Love Romance. Which sounds incredibly cynical of me when put like that, but my intentions are nothing but good. I've always secretly wanted to write for Harlequin Nocturne, and I think I've mentioned here before how much I'd love to write a great big OTT paranormal romance saga ala Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld, or Anna Windsor's Crescent Moon Sisterhood. And blah blah branding etc, I decided a pen name would be fun. So that's that, really. Anyway.

Yay, I've just added/friended (whatever the correct term for LJ is, lol) Tessa to my friends list. :)

I've always secretly wanted to write for Harlequin Nocturne...

You know, I secretly share the same thing. :)

Hope you feel better!

I have never heard of Harlequin Nocturne.

It's Harlequin's paranormal romance line. They also do Nocturne Bites, which are 10 - 15k ebook-only novellas, and that's what I'm aiming for!

Hum... I might have to check that out.

Aside from Ze Amazing Pet Project, my anti nano is going well. I'm just getting to the part where the Devil finds out God is having a party on Earth and is all "Oh hellz no, bitch!" about it.

There will be shenanigans!

Oooh, will we see this in snippet form?

I would say so.

Hm, if I click on tessa_morelock I reach Andrea Blythe's LJ. How does that happen? Still, that's what LJ Search is for :)

Also my anti-Nano has ground to a halt because I can't decide what new thing to start during the final week.

Weird! I think I fixed it...

Ah, but that's kind of a cool problem :) Do you have too many ideas?

Lots of new ideas, but the only one which is ready to go is something I've decided I don't like any more and don't really want to waste time on. I might have to be sensible and just work on the plot plan for the next novel instead. Space Opera and I clearly don't get along.

I have stuff? I'm continuing on with this fic that I keep telling myself I shouldn't be working on because there's Other Stuff I need to be doing, drafts that need finishing etc etc. But I'm trying not to feel guilty because I'm now up to nearly 6k words since starting a few days ago.

GET WELL SOON. Spend your downtime with more slasher movie badness.

6k is definitely pretty sweet! I say get the fic out of the way then move onto the other drafts.

Thanks :) I made it to Jason Takes Manhattan before I had to quit and go to bed, so I still have the horror that is Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X to enjoy. And then Freddie V Jason, which I've never actually seen! Good times.

I remember seeing Freddie V Jason in the theatre! It's fun-ish. I always go for the loser in these matchups, like with AvP. I know they're gonna lose, but that's where my fangirlism lies.

I haven't seen all the Friday the 13ths, let alone in order. The last one I saw had people being possessed by Jason and there was a bounty hunter. I'm avoiding the remake on principle. FRIDAY THE 13TH DOESN'T NEED TO BE REMADE.

Posted by [identity profile] naomi-jay.livejournal.com
The remake made me so sad and angry. Jason attained perfection in Friday 13th III! Everything after that was just for lulz, and a remake was utterly unnecessary.

I only manage about 500 words a day on weekends. My family actually expect me to spend time with them. *rolls eyes* The nerve of some people! So, after having to do a bit of hack and slash I'm still about 6K away from my anti-nano goal of reaching the halfways point. Totally doable. ;)

Hope you're feeling better soon! A hot toddie ought to fix you right up. :D

Have added tessa_morelock as a friend. You don't want to know what LJ asked me when it wanted to know what I really meant. *facepalm*

Get well. I hate being at work sick. How do you manage to work and get so much writing done? What is your secret?

I did some editing on what I had, but didn't really add any new words. I'm fixing to post my new wordage on my LJ with my new projected word count.

Posted by [identity profile] naomi-jay.livejournal.com
Thanks. I actually feel a bit better now for having been up and about.

*whispers*Sometimes, if it's quiet, I write at work. On a good day I can churn out 2k between opening the post and answering the phone, lol.

How's the editing going?

Posted by [identity profile] out-totheblack.livejournal.com
LOL, I'm getting about 1k done at work. I think if I stopped playing around on LJ and FB I might get more done.

I also don't write too fast, but I expect that will come with more practice.

I only had time for a little editing this weekend. Actually hung out with the fam. I opened my document a little while ago to start working on it.

I just realized dropbox is saving my file at work and my file from my borrowed laptop differently because I'm using different versions of Word. At least the files are getting saved on the internet and I can just d/l them.

Since this is "anti-nano" and seems to be quite productive for all of us, would you like to continue this past November?

I'm... writing new stuff, polishing up older drafts and posting - made a post yesterday and one today - and in general being somewhat productive. I like Anti-NaNo: there's no insane pressure to perform, and we actually get stuff done. <3

I wrote a bit more today on Tx3, I'm still writing ahead. I don't know how I'll fill in the gaps but it's nice to be making SOME progress.

MG horror is slackning off. I have to get boy hero to school and I'm thinking of just skipping to recess.

I hope to Cthulhu (P.S. Anyone see the South Park with Cthulhu!!!?? OMG! Awesome!) that someone out there in writer land will beta for me. Provided I finish the motherfucking book!
