I freely admit I read them nowadays just for the car crash element of it all. But her early books are the ones that made me want to write urban fantasy, so I suppose I'll always have a soft spot for her work, no matter how awful it gets.

I've heard that once upon a time they had plot! And she is one of the earliest to kick off UF as we think of it today, but I wonder what happened...

There are endless rumours - some people think her first husband helped write the early books. I think the most likely explanation is that once she moved to hardback and got a no-edit clause in her contract, it all went horribly wrong.
