A sailor's life is the life for me...
Aug. 6th, 2007 10:24 amFor years now I've been struggling to decide between two possible future abodes.
1. Small cottage by the sea, complete with a greyhound, a toy dog of some kind, a cat and a donkey
or 2. Crumbling gothic mansion located on perilous cliff edge, complete with bats, ghosts and graveyard. Possibly also haunted mausoleum.
Now I've realised I can get the best of both worlds by living in a disused lighthouse! I lose out on the graveyard and haunted mausoleum, but I definitely get the sea, plenty of room for animals, probably a perilous cliff and there's always the possibility of smugglers' caves, which in turn leads to the probability of bats and possibly ruined pirate ships.
Yes, I was indeed at the seaside this weekend, and it was glorious! My one regret was not seeing the shark display at the sealife centre. Luckily I was able to compensate by buying shark-related keyrings.
I also did a lot of thinking about Wild and where it's going. It's moving along really well, but I'm worried that, at nearly 20k, nothing much has actually happened yet. It's either going to be a total epic or will need seriously heavy editing once it's done. But I'm pleased with it so far - all the characters are taking shape, I think the plot is good, and best of all, the writing is coming easily. Every time I sit down to work on it, I turn out between 2 - 3k. Whether or not it's any good is another matter...
