Dear Naomi,

You do not like coffee. You do not like hazelnut coffee. You do not like Italian roast coffee. You do not like mild roast coffee. Just because the coffee at the Institute is free, doesn't mean you have to drink it. Especially since you do not like coffee. Stop trying coffee.

Love,
Naomi.

PS - Nor do you like green tea, no matter how nice it smells.

I had a very productive CWIL meeting last night - chapter one of Wild was up for critiquing.. My fears about Lizzie are confirmed: she is not a likeable protagonist. Or at least, the male members of the group don't like her. The female contingent was kinder, but I think it's a valid point. She doesn't come across well at first. The other issue people brought up is that there's no hint of what genre Wild is in the first chapter. The urban fantasy element doesn't really kick in until chapter three, so the chapters one and two may eventually either be merged into one or disappear altogether. Which is a shame, because I really like them. It wouldn't be so much killing my darlings as obliterating them.

Beattie Enrols With GI Joe
Collateral scribe Stuart Beattie has been hired to write GI Joe based on the popular Hasbro action figure. The story is set at the Brussels-based GIJOE, or the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, and will revolve around an international force of operatives using high-tech equipment to battle a Scottish arms dealer who heads the evil organisation Cobra. Obviously.

But wait... Scottish?! Scottish!?? Cobra Commander wasn't Scottish. He was American! He was a used car salesman in America who rose to become head of a global terrorist organisation bent on world domination. Scotland doesn't feature in that scenario. Or at least, not in the Marvel scenario.

Unless this means they're planning to make the film without Cobra Commander...

... But that would just be stupid.

It's because they're making it for an American (film) audience, who are too pig-ignorant and stupidpatriotic to accept European good-guys with American bad-guys.

I'm fully expecting his former job to have changed from used-car salesman to Al Qaeda member too.

I'm pretty sure GI Joe stood for "General Issue Joe" too. I'm become less enthused about this film as the day passes...

GI Joe, huh? Trust Hollyweird to f*ck it up.

And Darlink, there is only one drink on Dog's green earth and that's tea. Earl Grey. Hot!

My boyfriend says the same thing, but I'll take a mug of Ovaltine over that any day.

Okay, I agree, Ovaltine at night, just before bed, is perfect, unless, of course, it's Horlicks, and then that's even better. Heh! Heh!

Cause, y'know, thats the natural progression for used car salesmen.

Presumably he was frustrated by his lack of success as a used car salesman?
