Okay, enough moping, you guys. I've got a short story out today at Dark Fire Fiction - the feature story, no less. I heartily recommend you go check it out.
I'm putting Dark Eden on hold indefinitely to work on redrafting Wild. Deep down, I really believe I can make Lizzie's story a killer one and so everything else is taking a backseat while I look at the plot and get it up to scratch. I suspect one day I'll go back to Dark Eden, but as part of my new resolution to simplify my life, I'm focusing on one thing at a time for now.
Anyway, why are you still here? Dark Fire Fiction!
OMG, my grandparents have a puppy! A miniature Dachshund! They're picking her up today - I can't wait to go meet her! She's going to be so tiny and cute! I really wasn't sure they'd want another dog after Meg, but I think a Dachshund will be perfect for them. Expect an avalance of pictures anytime soon.
In other pet news, Fergus seems fully recovered, and his illness may even have mellowed him. For the first time in his life, he let Mum pick him up, carry him around and stroke him and he didn't struggle or scream at all. Seriously, this is very un-Fergus-like behaviour. He even sat on her lap, which seemed to freak them both out. Then he crawled onto me and fell asleep. Fergus never relaxes like that with other people around. He may be becoming less feral and more pet-like. I'm proud of him.
