Animaltastic photodump spectacular!
Apr. 24th, 2010 07:14 pm Yes! We went to Shepreth Wildlife Park today, and spent a sunny day cooing over goats, tigers, wolves, and meerkats, amongst others. Behold!

One of the many owls we saw (there was an Indian eagle owl called Igor who was particularly big and noisy. This isn't him though, obviously. This is a snowy owl).

A fox taking a nap. He did wake up later.

Coati! I love these. All they do is burrow and dig frantically.

A lynx waiting for the dinner. I felt bad for these guys; the tigers got fed first and you could see the other big cats prowling around getting pissed off because they had to wait.

OMG meerkat! I took so many meerkat photos. They're so fricking cute.

The tigers were pretty awe-inspiring. I got some great close-up shots, and even though part of me always winces at seeing big cats in captivity, these two looked very well-loved and looked after.

A lemur, cleaning himself with utter disregard for the camera.

Ha, the otters were adorable! We spent ages watching them playing with rocks, until they realised we didn't have any food and ran away.

A mountain lion, sleeping off his dinner.

I've no idea what's happening here...

Pig!

Another animal shows me it's arse...

A sneak raccoon.

But for me, the day was completely made by seeing the South American maned wolf. She'd only been at the park three days and was incredibly shy. We were so lucky to see her - she was gorgeous!

on 2010-04-24 06:40 pm (UTC)MEERKATS. I am pretty sure they only exist to make us happy. I will gladly watch meerkats do...whatever it is they do for hours.

on 2010-04-25 03:57 am (UTC)The sleeping mountain lion kind of reminds me of a cat. Doesn't matter if they're big cats or pets - they still look similar during naptime :-)

on 2010-04-26 12:59 pm (UTC)And otters? Aren't they just the most adorable things? They're so playful, they always look like they're having fun.
And the fox. Foxes really are pretty animals. On Horizon a while back was a woman who had domesticated foxes. She said they were as friendly as dogs and as independent as cats, and OMG they were cute. I want one!
