Although I'm nowhere near the middle of BLOOD HUNT, I am approaching the muddle. Missing werewolves, dead bodies, weird smells, and maybe even an angry mob are all on the horizon for Ayla and Shannon. I can't possibly write a werewolf novel set in France without referencing France's Middle Ages obsession with werewolves, witches, and vampires. In the sixteenth century there was a whole rash of court cases against supposed werewolves like Gilles Garnier, and I really want to work some of that history into BLOOD HUNT. It's always fun when you realise you've already paved the way for that kind of plot point accidentally (though of course I shall claim I planned it all along on account of my genius...)

Anyway, I feel so much better about my progress today. I haven't done much writing this week because of the damned virus, but I'm feeling a little healthier today (pizza and wine is my secret!). I'm switching off the laptop for the rest of the day to do some reading for my next planned project, the YA thing with the Satanic ritual abuse and eating disorders and such*. I'm also toying with ideas for this anthology, fired by my weekend habit of watching way too much Most Haunted.

Anyway, here's where we're at with BLOOD HUNT now:

18364 / 70000 words. 26% done!

*And people say writers are all maudlin, depressed cave-dwellers**!
** I have never met a writer who lives in a cave, but I would like to live in a lighthouse.
