naomi_jay: (am I lion?)
I've been off work since Wednesday afternoon and have written roughly 8k on SILVER KISS. It's not quite as much as I hoped, but it's still a lot, and I did have the day off yesterday to put the new bed together. Not that it took me a day to do it, but there was other stuff going on, like staying at Pip's parents on Friday night and watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Important stuff. Can't say I wildly adored the film; it reminded me a bit of Forest Gump - just stuff happening to a guy, but with a gimmick!

Anyway, it's back to work tomorrow so I'm hoping to knock out a few more thousand words tonight. I'm in the end zone of the novel, I think, racing towards the thrilling conclusion and putting Ayla and Shannon through the wringer in the process. SILVER KISS has turned into more of a relationshippy novel than I thought it would, lots of conflict between the pair of them in addition to the external conflicts. I've written myself into a couple of corners in terms of their relationship, and I'm not sure how I'm going to resolve it just yet. I'm sure the solution will present itself as I write, and I like not knowing exactly what's going to happen. That's part of the reason, I think, that I can never plan my books out in advance. If I plot it too concisely beforehand, I lose interest in writing it. Does anyone else find that?

So, here's the progress metre. Behold!
