Never Ending Story
Jun. 25th, 2007 12:31 pmIn other news, I set aside Wild to get back into revising Ill-Met. I'm hoping to have all the changes done by the end of the month, an ambitious goal given I'm only on chapter nine at the moment. But I'm confident. I have a four-day weekend this week and I intend to type until my fingers fall off!
I'm realising that the revision process is essentially unending. I thought I was done with my new first chapters, but found myself adding more to it as I revised later chapters and realised I'd either contradicted myself (Kas has a watch in chapter two but somehow loses it by chapter seven) or repeated myself (how many times must Scarlett contemplate her foster-father's death? Millions of times, dammit!)
I suppose really you could revise for ever and never be completed satisfied with what you're writing. At the moment I feel like I'm just adding to the word count rather than improving the story, but I was pretty hung over yesterday so my judgement was probably flawed....
