So, I'm seriously not well. My head feels like it's full of cotton wool, my throat feels like it's full of sandpaper, and I have acheived the grand total of no work so far this morning. Curse this damnable day job! I want to be at home shuffling around in my nightgown, carrying a candle and possibly shouting at my housemaid* to stoke the fire, dammit.

Anyway, in order to take my mind off my decline into Dickensian winter-related ill-health, let's do something fun! Tell me which book you've loved most this year, before midnight tonight (that's midnight wherever you are in the world). I'll pick a commenter at random tomorrow and send them a copy of AFTERLIFE. I read lots of YAs at the beginning of the year, some of which were brilliant. My favourite was Michelle Paver's Wolf Brother.

I've red so many books this year it's unfair to pick just one. I loved the details of The Scar by China Miéville, the depth of Benighted by Kit Whitfield, and the richness of the characters in Sunshine by Robin McKinley. However my ultimate favorite this year was Kushiel's Mercy by Jacqueline Carey. It was the final instalment to a long loved story. I started the series late so I only got this final book this year. It was bittersweet.

I love Carey, but haven't picked up the newer Kushiel books yet. I was an emotional wreck at the end of Kushiel's Avatar, lol.

I have two...

The book I enjoyed working on the most was Buried Tales of Pinebox, Texas (http://horror.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=62934) - it was a blast recruiting the authors, working on the stories and promoting it at conventions.

The I enjoyed reading the most was Fallout (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0979988195?ie=UTF8&tag=flamesrising-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=1789&creativeASIN=0979988195) by Derek Gunn - I enjoyed the first two books in the series quite a bit, so it was cool to finally get to the next stage of the story and follow the characters to the end.

One of these days I'll make a note of all the books I read in a year so I can remember them. Of course, it'd be a pretty long note. The most recent book I really enjoyed--perhaps enjoyed isn't the right word, but I was certainly blown away by the world-building, tension and characters--was a YA: Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

And I fully sympathise on the winter illness. My labyrinthitis has been rearing its ugly head again, exacerbated by the merest sniffle. I spent half of Monday in bed and seriously considered heading back there this morning!

EEE!!! I'm reading the sequel to Hunger Games at the moment and it's AWESOME! I recommend you pick up a copy immediately.

Yeah, I took Tuesday off work, and wish I'd done the same today. But it's common knowledge that I may have consumed a margharita or two last night, so I don't think I could convince people I'm genuinely ill, rather than hung over. Sigh.

You ask a very difficult question. :) I've read a lot of great books this year but I guess I'll have to go with Matheson's I am Legend. I finished it in a day. That's quite rare for me because I'm a slow reader.

This year, the book I've loved the most definitely was "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. Here I am thinking "blah blah, I've seen this movie before in Japanese no less. But a good writerly friend of mine reccommended it so I picked up and found...I...couldn't...put...it...down @__@" I was utterly addicted, I couldn't stop reading, I cried when a certain character died (and the last time I cried when reading a book honestly was years and years ago.) and I cried again when I read the end and OH! So good.

I've really enjoyed Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series. The most recent was probably the best, but I read and enjoyed them all.

It's a great series. There are consequences to actions, and the characters feel like real people. I'd willingly read anything Rachel writes. And she's a dern nice person as well.

Unwind by Neal Shusterman (genre: dystopian YA) was definitely my favourite read of the year. I had seen it in the store a few times before I picked it up, and then it kept haunting my brain until I bought it. It's not without faults (what book isn't?), but it's creepy and moving and heartbreaking all at the same time.
