The Shoregrave guide says: What more can be said about Shoregrave's ghostly population, that hasn't been covered in countless books and documentaries? From Drake's Square to Padley Manor, is there any part of the city that doesn't lay claim to at least one spectre? Shoregrave's bloody reputation certainly encourages the occasional hoax (the infamous Soldier of Saltway, for example), but by and large, Shoregrave has more verifiable ghost sightings than any other city in the country. And of course this is part of its appeal as a tourist destination. Where else do the living and the dead mix so freely?
Yasmin Stoker says: Ghosts are trapped in the past, either endlessly reliving their deaths or pestering the living to listen to them moan about their deaths.
