So! I've written just over 3k today on Night and Chaos, and now it's starting to look like this'll be longer than 40k too. I really want this to stay a novella, because if it gets to novel length, I'll be tempted to veer from The Plan and try to sell it, rather than publish it on the Kindle. I know! That's completely arbitrary and ridiculous. But I never claim to be anything else, so. The Plan was short, sweet novellas for the Kindle to bring in some pocket money; novels for small prints and maybe a new agent. Veering from The Plan means moving away from the "going part time at work soon, please" goal. And since today I got rejected for yet another job, I really need to work on the "going part time at work soon, please," bit.

Anyway. Progress is good, and however long the story ends up being, I'm happy with it. It's moving along nicely (I think!) and I'm on track for a finished draft by the end of November thanks to the magic of Anti-Nano.

Cool beans. I hope you are able to follow The Plan and go part-time at work soon.

I'm afraid mine is going to be longer than I planned. I'm not even halfway through the first act and I'm already up to 6500. I was only aiming for 20,000.

Aw, that's cool in a way though - shows you have a great big story to tell, and that there's way more of it in your head than you guessed ^_^

Good stuff! Is there any reason why you can't self publish it as a novel? Maybe you could even serialize it?

No reason at all! In fact, I almost certainly will self-publish it however long it ends up, because I already have someone working on cover art, lol. I just always get this niggling voice telling me I should be thinking about agents and so forth. Stupid, I know!
