I pretty much agree with the above comments, and it seems to me many authors cross post their blogs to many different sites. So I think it wouldn't hurt to have an account with blogger and Livejournal (since these seem to be the most popular if you're looking to promote your work). I feel the same as you do, I'm very comfortable here since I can delve things at LJ that I wouldn't with my "real life" friends and family, but I do plan to have a blogger account once I can start focusing more on my writing work. I'm just not ready for it yet. :P
I'd love to read Night and Chaos once the madness of my life settles down. :) I promise I will eventually since I'm really intrigued with the premise!
