I think some of the science behind it is quite similar, but beyond that I'm not sure. Basically with this diet, the theory is weight gain is caused by either food intolerance, candida, or blood-sugar problems, so for the first five days you cut out everything except brown rice, fish, meat, veg, and some dairy to get rid of any of those conditions you might have.
After that, you can eat more or less as you like, as long as the food isn't processed (I've had to give up chocolate and ice cream!), and you don't mix carbs with fat/protein in the same meal. It sounds like it might be quite boring, but actually I've been having some amazing meals - loads of steaks, swordfish, big plates of pasta... Last week when I came off it, I really missed it!
